Getting ready to take off on a jet for a far-off land? Perhaps just hopping across the country to visit family? If so, your first flight is something to celebrate. And not just because you get to jet off into the blue yonder in utter luxury. It’s also a huge milestone on the road to world domination.
Now that you’re going places (and how!), here are some tips for first-time flyers.
- Create an Itinerary
Before you head to the airport, make sure that you have a plan. Check out maps, buy travel guides or books on your destination, and decide where you want to go once you land!
- Check That Your Carry-on Is the Right Size
It’s a good idea to measure your carry-on luggage so that you know exactly how big it is. This also helps you out when packing for the trip, as you’ll know what will fit in your bag!
- Select the Best Seat (If You Can)
If you’re heading abroad, you might want to select an aisle seat so that you can move around more easily. On the other hand, if it’s a short trip or two of you traveling together, choosing window seats can be fun and give you something new to look out for!
- Pack Light
A huge suitcase will only slow you down, so try to pack light. This doesn’t mean that you have to wear the same outfit every day!
Even if you forget something important such as a toothbrush or hairbrush, chances are there will be shops or pharmacies in your destination where you can pick up what you need.
- Dress for the Trip
Make sure to pack comfortable, warm clothes for your flight. If you’re going somewhere cool, do the same. And remember that it’s always a good idea to layer!
- Double-Check Your Finances
Before you go to the airport, make sure that you have enough cash on hand. You will probably need money for any luggage fees, for checking into your hotel, and of course for souvenirs!
And remember: your first flight is only a stepping stone on the road to world domination. So enjoy it!
