- Great Blue Hole in Belize
The Great Blue Hole is found at Lighthouse Reef off the coast of Belize. It is the largest ocean sinkhole, and it can actually be seen from space. It is a unique experience to dive here, as it is deep and dark. You will discover stalactites and stalagmites deep down in the hole, and there are many types of sharks dwelling there. Look for nurse sharks, blacktip sharks, hammerheads, and other sharks, as well as angelfish and purple seafans. It is a different type of atmosphere that is deep and less colorful, and it is ideal from April to June.
- Barracuda Point on Sipadan Island
You will find this dive in Malaysia in the Coral Triangle. There is a coral reef around a dormant underwater volcano, which allows a diverse ecosystem to thrive in these clear waters. You will discover more than 3,000 species of fish as well as hundreds of coral here. At the end of the dive, there is a large school of barracudas that the dive is named for. It is a favorite for underwater photographers, and you will also see turtles, reef sharks, parrotfish, and many more. It is ideal to visit from April to December.
- Darwin’s Arch in the Galapagos
Although Darwin’s Arch has collapsed from erosion, divers still love the diversity of marine life that they find here. It is located off the coast of Ecuador, and the water is so full of nutrients that it attracts a range of species, including barracudas, bar jacks, eagle rays, sea lions, moray eels, green sea turtles, dolphins, and many more. You can’t see everything in one dive, so this is a great place to stay for a few days.
